INTRODUCING "SPORTS SAMPLING SATURDAY PROGRAM"
Sports Sampling Saturdays is a FREE fun and motivational program offered each Saturday during the Fall, Winter, and Spring Months each year from 10am-1pm. The program designed to promote healthy youth behavior through exposure to various sports, such as Jr. NBA Basketball, USA Soccer, and Learn to Skate Ice Skating. Each sport involves drills/skills training and league play each Saturday.
In addition to gaining new sports skills, participants take part in interactive restorative justice peace circles and mentoring with highly qualified coaches. The goal of the program is to give inner city youth a vision of hope through mentoring with positive adults and to make sure that they stay physically fit all year long, especially when the weather does not support outdoor play.
Youth who participate in Sports Sampling Saturdays also have an opportunity to participate in the Passport to the World Club Program. This program is an exciting and fun global cooking experience for children with hands-on healthy cooking activities. Each month a new country is highlighted! Throughout the month children will learn about the various regions of the country, the foods, geography, culture, holidays, and more! Children will learn how to prepare authentic ethnic dishes and take home healthy and fresh ingredients to their families after each cooking lesson.
