Mayor Brown Announces $345,000 Grant to Police Athletic League of Buffalo

Buffalo, NY – Mayor Byron W. Brown announced today that a $345,000 grant from the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation has been awarded to the Police Athletic League of Buffalo (PAL), Inc.; a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide quality youth enrichment programming at little or no cost to families who reside in the City of Buffalo (New York) and neighboring communities.

The Wilson Foundation grant will span over the course of three years and help the Buffalo PAL execute a strategic plan that focuses on Agency Sustainability, Board Development, Leadership, and Professional Development for Athletic Coaches.

“I thank the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation for awarding a $345,000 grant to the Police Athletic League of Buffalo,” said Mayor Brown. “The Wilson Foundation’s generous donation will support the organization, which serves programs for over 20,000 kids in our area. We’re honored that Ralph C. Wilson, Jr.’s legacy carries on in Buffalo and Western New York, and thank the Foundation for this collaboration that will benefit our youth.”

For over sixty years, the Police Athletic League of Buffalo, Inc. has served children in the Greater BuffaloNiagara Region with a diverse array of athletic, educational, and cultural programs that take place throughout the year in safe environments with nurturing mentors in partnership with local law enforcement.

Buffalo PAL Executive Director Nekia Kemp states “We are incredibly grateful and excited to work with the Wilson Foundation on strengthening Buffalo PAL so that we can better serve our region’s youth. We look forward to building a plan of agency sustainability that will ultimately benefit the youth we serve and achieve the goal of helping them grow up to become responsible, successful adults.”
