Literacy New York
Buffalo-Niagara, Inc.

The goal of the Literacy New York Buffalo-Niagara Partnership/Buffalo PAL Reading Program is to strengthen the students’ literacy skills as they work to develop their core proficiencies corresponding to the NYS Common Core Learning Standards for English Language Arts and Literacy, as well as the demonstration of those skills. The LNYBN BPAL Reading Program provides the students the opportunity to work in small groups, with targeted instructional supports, to participate in experiential learning activities that not only develop literacy skills and strategies, but also to increase students reading independence and proficiency, enhancing their opportunities to more successfully participate in academic and community literacy activities, such as the Mayor’s Summer Reading Challenge and the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library Reading Contests.
